JANEY SMITH TALKS MENOPAUSE AND BODY CONFIDENCE IN GLOSSY SHOOT FOR CLOSER

23.07.2024

My Mum, Your Dad star Janey Smith has opened up about going through perimenopause and the impact it has had on her body confidence in a new interview.

Appearing in a stunning shoot for Closer magazine, Janey revealed how she started experiencing menopausal symptoms in her later 30s and how she became insecure and anxious.

Speaking to the weekly mag, she said: “I noticed insecurities kicked in about my body too. I was given antidepressants twice over the years, but they didn’t agree with me and, in my heart, I just knew it wasn’t depression.
“Last Christmas, I felt so low. I thought, ‘This is a bit dangerous when you’re feeling this bad’. I had brain fog and I had no confidence. I went back to the doctor and he recognised my symptoms were because I was perimenopausal. It was a relief. I suffered for a long time but, since going on HRT, I’m a different person.”

Revealing how she feels about herself now, Janey, 48, said: “I feel good about myself – I mean, I’ve got a wobbly tummy and a few lumps here and there, but it doesn’t bother me because I love my food and a glass of wine. I don’t tie myself up in knots about how much I weigh.”

She added: “Do I feel sexy? Yes, I do! I turn 50 next year, but I still feel about 20 in my head – and that’s why I get along so well with Roger, because he’s really only 19!”
